Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson will miss Sunday's game against the Atlanta Falcons with a left ankle injury, coach Jesse Minter said Friday.
Jackson didn't practice this week after picking up the injury in a 24-18 victory over the Tennessee Titans last Sunday.
Minter had said earlier in the week that the veteran signal-caller might still be available but confirmed Friday that he would be sidelined for the first time this season with backup quarterback Tyler Huntley getting the start.
"We have a ton of confidence in (Huntley) to play really well," Minter said. "I think everyone on the team is excited to see that and (for) him to have this opportunity."
Huntley, 28, is in his sixth season with the Ravens. He returned to Baltimore last season -- where he played from 2020-2023 -- after a year with the Miami Dolphins.
Jackson, a two-time NFL Most Valuable Player, has thrown for 967 yards with six touchdowns so far this season, leading the league in yards per attempt and yards per completion.
He didn't play in the second half of Sunday's victory, and Minter said there was no timeline yet for his return.
"To Lamar's credit, he's working his tail off to get back," the coach said. "(I) don't know the specifics of next week. But I know he'll be doing everything in his power to get back."
The Ravens will be trying to improve their 3-1 record when they visit Atlanta, where the 2-2 Falcons are coming off a big win over NFC South division rivals New Orleans.
